Frankfort, Ky. – Five high-tech businesses will be awarded more than $1.5 million as part of the state’s program to support and attract technology-based small business to the state.

Two of those companies receiving awards are based out-of-state but are relocating to Kentucky. The companies receiving awards in the second quarter of 2015 include:

Gismo Therapeutics, Inc. (Fayette County): Gismo is a Lexington-based company that recently relocated from New York. The company is developing a class of small molecule therapeutics to disrupt the inflammation cycle of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).

It’s easy to put things off, from starting a big project at work to making a dental appointment. Everybody procrastinates, says Joseph Ferrari, PhD, professor of psychology at DePaul University in Chicago, but not everybody is a procrastinator.

"Twenty to 25% of adults are chronic procrastinators; it affects their home, school, relationships, and job—wherever they have to do something," says Ferrari, author of Still Procrastinating: The No-Regrets Guide to Getting It Done. "That’s higher than the rate for depression, substance abuse, phobias, and other psychological abnormalities. People think it’s humorous, but it can be a serious problem."

The spread of mobile technology has spurred new companies, such as delivery service MamaMikes, which allows dispersed family members to send gifts, and energy provider M-Kopa Solar, which now provides energy to a reported 150 000 homes across East Africa.

Japan has agreed for equity participation in the entity that would take up the construction of the State capital at Amaravati and details are being worked out, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has said.

In a media interaction in Tokyo on Tuesday, Mr. Naidu said the his government had submitted proposals to Singapore and Japanese governments seeking development fund, technical assistance, technology collaboration and skill development. He said the Singapore Government agencies which submitted the Master Plan for capital region were expected to give the detailed seed capital plan in a few days.
