Job website Dice.com recently published its 2016 salary survey. The company surveyed 16,301 IT professionals in the fall of 2015 to come up with this list of average salaries for people with particular in-demand skills.

So you thought that things couldn’t get more intense than watching GoPro footage of a base jumper soaring through canyons before landing in the snow? Turns out you were wrong. Soon, you can watch it live as well, with all the added tension of a live unfolding drama.

In a mouth-watering move, live-streaming app Periscope and action-camera maker GoPro have announced a partnership which means that GoPro users “can now broadcast their daring adventures live through Twitter’s Periscope app, opening the door to a whole new dimension of real-time video sharing”, according to the Guardian newspaper.

Still, a new report from the National Venture Capital Associaton shows significant changes based on their compound annual growth rate for the number of companies receiving venture capital funding since 2010.

Easy come and easy go. It takes no time to build a tech startup, or for it to get off the market.

Sixty-five young people, some of them students, gathered in Jakarta during a weekend in early October to receive a short course on how to build a company in 54 hours.

By the end of the workshop, which was organized by micro business accelerator KIBAR, the 12 teams had their startups up and running.

Global Corporate Venturing (GCV) selected these stars as representing the brightest prospects, and those who have already been changing the industry. In an age of continuing electronic breaches and rising geopolitical tensions over cyber-espionage, the White House is working on a national cybersecurity strategy that’s expected in early 2016. Helping to draft that strategy is Greg Shannon. He was until recently chief scientist at Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute and is now on leave to serve as assistant director for cybersecurity strategy at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

The state of Illinois is getting back in the venture-capital business for the first time in several years.

Treasurer Michael Frerichs says he'll start investing more than $220 million of state treasury money with venture funds across the state.

The Legislature first authorized the state to invest up to 1 percent of its funds in venture capital in 2002, which resulted in over $65 million that ultimately flowed to startups such as Diagnostic Photonics, SpotHero and Sittercity. (The original legislation was co-sponsored by then-state senator Barack Obama.)
