Ohio has quickly become one of the fastest-growing startup economies in the country, according to a new report on venture-capital funding in the state.
Investors put $470 million to work with 210 new and developing companies in Ohio last year, according to the Ohio Venture Report 2016. That’s a 26 percent increase in venture-capital investment from 2015 and a 46 percent increase from 2014.
“The future is very bright,” said venture capitalist Mark Kvamme, the founder of Drive Capital and chairman of the report’s producer, VentureOhio, a Columbus-based trade association for venture investors, incubators, accelerators, universities and other organizations.
