According to a recent study published by the American Sociological Review, 70% of American workers struggle with finding a work-life system that works for them. Eating healthily doesn't have to mean a life of deprivation and restriction. In fact, there are a ton of healthy recipes and foods that actually taste good out there. You just need to know where to look and make sure you're equipped with the right ingredients.

A study featured by the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health states that preparing food at home may be the main factor — over all others — in how healthy a person's diet is overall. “When people cook most of their meals at home, they consume fewer carbohydrates, less sugar and less fat than those who cook less or not at all – even if they are not trying to lose weight,” says Julia A. Wolfson, MPP, a CLF-Lerner Fellow at the Johns Hopkins Center for a Livable Future and lead author of the study.

Here are three things we can agree on. Some predictions are good. Some predictions are bad. Most predictions are wrong.

Stephanie Baum, Meghana Keshavan and I spent the last fews days spouting off on the kind of deals we think should happen in healthcare in 2016. Afterward, we polled the full MedCity News reporting staff and incorporated feedback from social media to rank these healthcare M&A predictions from completely loony tunes and to actually having some merit.

The CEO sitting across from me is explaining how he and the other executives of a telecommunications firm were caught off guard by a new technology that disrupted the firm’s business. “We did not see WhatsApp coming,” he says, shaking his head. He wants to increase his capacity to learn, to spot and understand developments inside and outside of the firm. He believes this is vital not only for better performance now, but also for the continued success of his career. “I’m in my early 50s, and I’m afraid that the next time I want to change jobs, people will see me as irrelevant. I’ve seen it happen to plenty of others. How do I stay fresh and convince people that I still have a lot to contribute?”

VODAFONE, Huawei and u-blox have successfully trialled a more efficient, mobile Internet of Things connectivity technology in Spain. The commercial trial of pre-standard NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things) technology promises to extend the Internet of Things (IoT) by making it more efficient to connect objects to the internet which are in areas hard to reach by mobile connectivity or that require a long battery life. NB-IoT promises to achieve up to 10 years’ battery life and deep indoor penetration.

With their traditional product lines under pressure from cloud-based upstarts, some of Silicon Valley’s legacy tech giants are looking at the Internet of Things to increase their bottom lines.

The IoT is still evolving, but it includes connected wearable devices like the Apple Watch, driverless cars and fitness bracelets. That’s the tip of the IoT iceberg. Beneath it are business-to-business applications and data center technology that are likely to dwarf the consumer side in the revenue they generate.

The venture capital sector is heading back to earth. The big question for the new year is how bumpy its landing might be. New data indicate that key segments in venture capital — the business of funding startup companies — will be down sharply for 2015, a sign that the dramatic rise in startup valuations is peaking and the funding of new ones is tapering off.

Crowdfunding has become the hottest way to fund everything from new inventions to medical procedures, but there are things you should know before setting up a campaign or contributing to one.

"It's important people do research whether they're looking to make a donation or set up a campaign," said Andy Osburn, an advisor to the not-for-profit National Crowdfunding Association of Canada.

The Middle East’s demographic time bomb is well known.

According to the World Economic Forum, the region of around 370 million people is home to 40 million underemployed youth and boasts the world’s highest youth unemployment rate of 27 per cent.

In the Gulf, the figures are lower, as bloated public sectors have absorbed the stream of graduates pouring out of schools and universities. Over half of the population today is under the age of 30, implying a growing labour force for decades to come.

It was the year of drug pricing, fantasy-sports and Uber regulations, and countless cyber and terror attacks. It was a year when initial public offerings were few and far between for technology companies, and the biotech window may have closed as well. Yet there were plenty of commercial advances in fields like gene editing, immunotherapy, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and 3D printing.

As the days get darker and colder in much of the northern hemisphere, it’s easy to indulge in gloom. For the next few months, you’ll be shivering. You’ll be battling foul weather. Thanks to daylight saving time there will be no chance to see the sun after work.

The gloom leads to a common question: What can I do to cope with the dark and cold?

Every September, largely unbeknownst to the rest of the company, a group of around 50 Lego employees descends upon Spain’s Mediterranean coast, armed with sunblock, huge bins of Lego bricks, and a decade’s worth of research into the ways children play. The group, which is called the Future Lab, is the Danish toy giant’s secretive and highly ambitious R&D team, charged with inventing entirely new, technologically enhanced "play experiences" for kids all over the world. Or, as Lego Group CEO Jørgen Vig Knudstorp puts it, "It’s about discovering what’s obviously Lego, but has never been seen before."

Wlotteryant a prestigious education? Harvard, Yale, and Princeton are the way to go. But if you're looking for a high-paying career after graduation, you may want to look elsewhere.

A new study from the the Brookings Metropolitan Policy Program ranks two- and four-year colleges based on economic outcomes for graduates—and none of the Ivy League even makes it to the top 10 for the four-year institutions. This is the data that the U.S. News and World Report rankings won't tell you.
