A new specialized lab, office and collaboration space for over 100 life science and health technology professionals, entrepreneurs, and researchers was recently announced for The Campus, Cherrywood in South Dublin, Ireland. The hub, the first of its kind in Ireland, aims to build on Dublin’s emerging international reputation as a leading center for life sciences innovation and start-up activity.

Spear Street Capital, an owner and operator of distinctive properties located in the US, Canada and Europe, will invest in the purpose-built life sciences campus. The site will be managed by the UK’s We Are Pioneer Group (WAPG).

WASHINGTON, Nov 10 (Reuters) - The U.S. Treasury Department on Wednesday released new implementation guidance for the $10 billion State Small Business Credit Initiative Program, designed to allow firms in disadvantaged communities access capital.

The program, approved under coronavirus relief legislation passed in March, aims to catalyze $10 of private investment for every $1 of federal funding. Treasury said in the the guidance that it will provide $2.5 billion in seed capital for jurisdictions to reach businesses owned by socially or economically disadvantaged individuals and over $600 million in funding to Native American tribes.

Nov. 9 (UPI) -- Autonomous vehicle technology company Motional announced on Tuesday that it will help offer fully driverless Lyft service within two years -- and they'll pick up their first U.S. passengers in Las Vegas.

Motional, a $4 billion joint venture between Hyundai and auto supplier Aptiv, said Las Vegas will be the first U.S. city to see the driverless vehicles in 2023.

Amazon AWS

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is collaborating with government-focused tech firm PUBLIC to launch its accelerator programme for UK-based digital healthcare startups.

The virtual four-week mentorship opportunity is open to innovative companies focused on elective care, population health, citizen access and workforce.

A cohort of 10 selected healthcare startups will receive AWS promotional credits, specialised AWS training, mentoring from healthcare domain and technical subject matter experts, business development, go-to-market guidance, and investment guidance, and potential proof of concept opportunities with public sector healthcare customers.

A new imaging technique, developed by the teams of Professors Jinyang Liang and Fiorenzo Vetrone at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS), can measure temperature in 2D, without contact, and in just a snap. The results of their research were published in the journal Nature Communications. This accurate real-time temperature detection could one day improve photothermal therapy and help in the early diagnosis of skin cancers.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Heading into the U.N. climate talks currently underway in Glasgow, Scotland, people worldwide were mostly pleased with the efforts in their respective countries to preserve the environment. Sixty-three percent of adults surveyed in 2020 were satisfied.

This percentage is similar to satisfaction levels over the past several years, which have been higher than the levels in most of the years leading up to the Paris Agreement in 2015.

College degrees are assets. Or at least they are sufficiently asset-like that many people are willing to borrow large amounts of money to obtain them. Degrees unlock valuable parts of the labor market and yield returns in the form of additional compensation that can be used to make loan payments.

Degrees are, like homes, critical milestones on the standard path to prosperity. Because people tend to get their first degrees and homes earlier in adult life, when they have fewer financial assets and less established credit, it makes sense for the government to subsidize the loans used to acquire them.
