How coronavirus could change your office space and remote work from home Vox

If and when you return to your office after the novel coronavirus pandemic, you’ll probably notice some differences.

Upon entering your building, the doors may open automatically so you don’t have to touch the handles. Before you board your elevator, you might tell the elevator where you’d like to go, rather than pressing the many buttons within the elevator. When you reach your floor, you could walk into a room full of dividers and well-spaced desks instead of the crowded open floor plan you’re used to. In common areas like meeting rooms and kitchens, expect to see fewer chairs and posted documentation of the last time they were cleaned.

The coronavirus pandemic is forcing biopharma companies and regulators to act quicker than they ever have to speed treatments to approval. And that, in turn, is leading to creative collaborations rarely seen before.

Some examples are already in place. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Wellcome, for instance, joined with regulators, non-governmental organizations and drugmakers in March to form the COVID-19 Therapeutics Accelerator. More than a dozen pharmaceutical companies and biotechs, and a few venture firms, recently created the "COVID R&D" consortium. Large rivals are joining forces on individual projects, too, like Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline's plan to co-develop a coronavirus vaccine, or Takeda and CSL Behring's joint work on a plasma-derived therapy for COVID-19.

Crises come in different intensities. As a “landscape scale” event,1 the coronavirus has created great uncertainty, elevated stress and anxiety, and prompted tunnel vision, in which people focus only on the present rather than toward the future. During such a crisis, when information is unavailable or inconsistent, and when people feel unsure about what they know (or anyone knows), behavioral science points to an increased human desire for transparency, guidance, and making sense out of what has happened.

(CNN)More than 97% of the US population is currently under a stay-at-home or shelter-in-place order as the coronavirus pandemic continues to upend life as we know it. But worries for the economy -- and people's mental health -- are raising the question: When will things go back to normal?

President Donald Trump has indicated many states can reopen by May 1, and on Thursday shared federal guidelines for restarting the economy with governors.

Even in this age of videos and text messages, the quickest way to kill your startup dream with investors, business partners, or even customers, is embarrassingly poor writing. Being very visible in the startup community, I still get an amazing number of badly written emails, rambling executive summaries, and business plans with one paragraph per chapter.

According to the PitchBook-NVCA Venture Monitor report, the activity for venture capital fundraising was robust during the first quarter. There were nearly 3,000 deals that raised over $34 billion, up from 2,800 deals for $31 billion in the previous quarter.

But of course, with the COVID-19 pandemic, the volumes will probably look much worse in the second quarter. Part of this will be the challenges in getting more clarity in certain markets, such as in travel and transportation. But there are also logistical issues because of the stay-at-home orders.

Successful entrepreneurs are the ones who think the most creatively, not only in their initial product or service, but more importantly all through the stages of growth from startup to maturity. But even the best of them can easily slip into some bad decision habits that limit or hurt their business, due to natural human tendencies and the pressures of business challenges.

The pandemic is giving people vivid unusual dreams Here s why

Ronald Reagan pulled up to the curb in a sleek black town car, rolled down his tinted window, and beckoned for Lance Weller, author of the novel Wilderness, to join him. The long-dead president escorted Weller to a comic book shop stocked with every title Weller had ever wanted, but before he could make a purchase, Reagan swiped his wallet and skipped out the door.

Johns Hopkins University’s COVID-19 tracking map has replaced many Americans’ homepages over the last few weeks as the novel coronavirus pandemic disrupts life across the country. Now, there’s a new tab, breaking down the data by race.

The Racial Data Transparency map shows which states have released racial data pertaining to confirmed coronavirus cases, deaths and testing. Lisa A. Cooper, director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity, says this information is vital for governments and public health departments as they distribute the $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus package passed by Congress.
