Meanwhile, a hitchhiking robot's world tour successfully passed through Germany, the Netherlands and Canada, but the American leg of the journey was cut short when it was decapitated and beaten to death in Philadelphia.

Yes, we humans are an unpredictable and diverse lot. And inevitably, different regions of the world are bound to perceive artificial intelligence in different ways. Here is how five countries are incorporating robotics into their cultures... On their own terms.

team

Say your startup has an on-call rotation that follows the sun. Someone’s always on. One day, a member of your team gets an alert that disk space will run out on the primary PostgreSQL server in two hours. An hour later, he gets another page. Then thirty minutes later, disk space runs out and your entire site goes down. For 18 hours. The silver lining is that your two-tier architecture can keep your site and app online, but the backend of your business has come to a halt. Your CTO is furious. He says you must fire the engineer who was on call to make a point.

The 2018 municipality population estimates indicate a general decline in the annual growth rate over the past year compared to that of the last eight years. Among the 37 municipalities (including Honolulu, see Note 1) with at least 500,000 residents, the population grew 0.39 percent, down by more than one-half from the annual rate since the 2010 US Census (0.88 percent). Critically, this measures not metropolitan populations but those of cities (municipalities) within metropolitan areas.

Exploding student debt and increased competition have made earning a bachelor’s degree a less likely path to financial security, Bloomberg reports. woman business

No, this post isn't about gender identity—it's about how arbitrary I find the labels "female entrepreneur" and "woman entrepreneur."

People like to create two categories for business owners: entrepreneurs and female entrepreneurs. I have never understood why the two have to be separated.  Haven't we reached the point in our society where we've stopped delineating between the capabilities of each gender? (Watch the videos in the Always' #LikeAGirl campaign for tear-jerking examples.) Can't we just focus on the subject of entrepreneurship without breaking it down further?

interview

Most people think the focus of economic development is on bringing in new businesses and new jobs.

As unemployment rates plunge and competition for millennial workers increases, this has led to an increasingly important question: Who fills those jobs? And how do you convince them to stay?

Recruiting talent has become a much bigger piece of the economic development puzzle. More managers are seeing that jobs now follow people, not the other way around.

Bill Gates - From Wikipedia

Based on my years of experience as a new business advisor, I always find leadership to be more important to business success than any new technology or innovative solution.
