Da2ec6b7 9109 4b36 85ed 2a5b10eb1b1cLarge corporations and conglomerates, the engines of growth and vitality in the twentieth century, have lost their edge and their image. They have proven themselves unable to innovate, and they have lost more jobs than they create. My friends who “grew up” with lifetime careers in General Motors, Exxon Mobil, or even IBM, are now often too embarrassed to even mention it.

Mom and daughter surf in a laptop business woman 2022 02 01 22 38 30 utcGrit, determination and flexibility are just some of the many qualities it takes to be an entrepreneur — and who embodies those qualities better than mothers? As we recently celebrated Mother's Day, I got to thinking about all the lessons I've learned from my own mother and how her wisdom translates to business.

Working primarily as a real estate agent but with many side hustles along the way, my mom instilled a work ethic in me from a young age and always led by example. A true Midwesterner, her approach to business was, "You catch more bees with honey than vinegar." To this day, she is my role model in making it happen in business.

Digitalization of a futuristic artificial intellig 2021 10 18 18 12 52 utcIn most organizations, artificial intelligence models are “black boxes,” where only data scientists understand what exactly AI does. That can create significant risk for organizations.

Large, sensitive datasets are often used to train AI models, creating privacy and data breach risks. The use of AI increases an organization’s threat vectors and broadens its attack surface. AI further creates new opportunities for benign mistakes that adversely affect model and business outcomes.

Researchers tested their method to track Bluetooth fingerprints on campus. They use an off-the-shelf device to track and identify devices. CREDIT: University of California San DiegoA team of engineers at the University of California San Diego has demonstrated for the first time that the Bluetooth signals emitted constantly by our mobile phones have a unique fingerprint that can be used to track individuals’ movements.

Mobile devices, including phones, smartwatches and fitness trackers, constantly transmit signals, known as Bluetooth beacons, at the rate of roughly 500 beacons per minute. These beacons enable features like Apple’s “Find My” lost device tracking service; COVID-19 tracing apps; and connect smartphones to other devices such as wireless earphones.

Closeup of iv drip chamber 2022 04 12 03 03 32 utcA tiny group of people with rectal cancer just experienced something of a scientific miracle: their cancer simply vanished after an experimental treatment.

Business people in office using computer 2022 03 08 01 31 17 utcThe time has come to look beyond customer service. A satisfactory engagement process, whether digital or human-centric, is now to be expected. In order to stand out and truly establish a game-changing emotional connection, the concept of Deep Customer Care has to be integrated into every aspect of the engagement journey.

Conventional customer service can be a curated, almost scripted response, delivering a standard corporate interaction. Deep Customer Care, on the other hand, dispenses with pre-defined parameters and looks to ensure every brand journey is bespoke and goes above and beyond expectations. This is not, however, some theoretical, unattainable pinnacle; instead, it is a robust, actionable reality, underpinned by a cohesive route to consistency.

Elon Musk doesn’t like WFH. Neither does New York Mayor Eric Adams or London Mayor Sadiq Khan, though for different reasons. Musk, a notorious workaholic who calls WFH “pretend’ work, has just ordered Tesla executives to spend 40-hours minimum weekly at the office, “not some remote pseudo-office.” Not mincing words, Musk adds if Tesla employees don’t turn up, “we will assume you have resigned.”

D0dba21c 5f17 4f22 9dd6 411001e254f5Investing in entrepreneurs and startups is a fun but different world from investing in conventional stocks, bonds, and commodities. First of all, it’s more of an investment in people than in a business, since the startup is usually an idea barely half-baked when they need your money. Secondly, the risk is very high, since as many as 90 percent of startups fail within a few years.

There are more than 100,000 hospital admissions every year due to heart attacks in the UK alone – one every five minutes.
