ChatGPT, a new artificial intelligence chatbot, has taken the internet by storm.

This tool is the latest example of AI-based tools that are augmenting the way we do business. There are many others, but natural language processing bots and generative visual AIs like DALLE•2 are advancing particularly fast.

With the release of iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, and macOS Ventura 13.1, Apple has released Freeform, a new app for live online visual collaboration.  Freeform is based on the same “infinite canvas” concept popularized by apps such as Miro or Endless Paper, with the advantage of being an Apple native app with full integration with iCloud. The app is also fully compatible with FaceTime, to let users videocall within the app while working on the same board.

Nuclear fusion researchers at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California have significantly advanced in developing a novel carbon-free power source.

The team utilized the biggest laser in the world to start a fusion reaction that generated more energy than it used, signifying a breakthrough in the search for a clean nuclear energy source, as reported first by Interesting Engineering.

For scientists, the year 2022 - despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic - was also the year that witnessed groundbreaking additions to humankind's information base on oncology treatment. Researchers in Spain found a new way to diagnose for pancreatic cancer by testing the stool of patients. There have also been breakthroughs in stopping the spread of breast, and head and neck cancer as well.

As we look ahead to 2023, talks of global recessions are dominating boardroom discussions. Of course, managing a business during a recession is not easy. But not knowing when the recession will end is especially challenging.

QuantumScape has announced impressive performance figures for what may be the first commercially viable lithium metal solid state battery. They claim that they can increase the autonomy of an electric car by up to 80%, and that it can charge from 0 to 80% in just 15 minutes.

It’s 8 a.m. on a sunny 84 degrees Fahrenheit Saturday at Alexandra Headland on the Sunshine Coast of southeast Queensland, Australia. Sujal Patel has been here before.

He weathered the 2009 recession as CEO of Isilon Systems, coming out the other end to sell his company the next year for $2.25 billion.

He’s now CEO of Nautilus Biotechnology, and he’s not taking any big chances in the current economic downturn.

“Reading is one of the most affordable personal growth tools we have at our disposal,” Lucía García-Giurgiu, a life coach and holistic psychotherapist, tells CNBC Make It. “There is so much valuable knowledge you can learn from books and put into practice in your own life …. And eventually, that knowledge becomes wisdom, it becomes second-nature.”

We've all seen the headlines lately--there's a good chance that we are entering a recessionary market. During these periods of economic uncertainty, one of the first things many businesses do is pull back on marketing and advertising spending. Marketing is often one of the biggest line items in a business' budget, but in my experience, turning off marketing investment completely isn't the best path to long-term success either, especially if there is an opportunity to gain market share.

I love to ride bikes. And I’ve spent a meaningful percentage of my life working in big cities. But I’ve only rarely gotten around urban environments on two wheels. Maybe that’s because bicycles, when you’re not on them, can be a burden. They’re big and bulky, are difficult to meld with other means of transit (such as subways), and aren’t always welcome in offices. They’re also at risk of being stolen if you leave them outside, regardless of how well you’ve locked them up.

LONDON – The tech world has generated a fresh abundance of front-page news in 2022. In October, Elon Musk bought Twitter – one of the main public communication platforms used by journalists, academics, businesses, and policymakers – and proceeded to fire most of its content-moderation staff, indicating that the company would rely instead on artificial intelligence.

There's not enough fresh water to go around on planet Earth, and it's a problem that's expected to only worsen in the coming years.

To meet growing demand, recycling and restricting our water will only get us so far. Scientists will need to find new sources of this life-sustaining liquid to meet our needs.

In recent years, technology permeated almost every aspect of our lives as we witnessed a surge in digitalization across sectors. India made significant strides in its digitalization journey with expansion of internet connectivity across rural and urban areas, a wealth of data generated and consumed, and an ever-increasing number of digital services.

Academics are generally considered to have their heads buried in books. Yet Saku Mantere, a well-established professor at McGill University, just released his debut album, Upon First Impression. The album has been received well, and the Canadian WholeNote magazine wrote that “Mantere’s originals are amazing […] Mantere’s music is superb.”

Buried in a dusty landfill in Alamogordo, New Mexico, are more than 700,000 discarded Atari game cartridges, including E.T., the 1982 Atari game based on the blockbuster film. This bleak trove of artifacts symbolizes the video game crash of 1983, when consumer demand plummeted and companies like Atari literally dumped their cartridges in the trash.

Why did the popularity of Atari video games rise exponentially only to collapse seemingly overnight? As soon as creative original Atari games like Centipede and Space Invaders hit store shelves, many, many imitations flooded the market.
