During the past decade, the most successful tech companies with roots in Oklahoma — such as Alexion Pharmaceuticals, RiskMetrics Group, SolarWinds and Zapaq — have collectively created $12 billion in value. How much is $12 billion? A bit of perspective may help. Here are the market capitalizations of some of Oklahoma's largest companies, as of Jan. 4, 2011: OG&E: $4.45 billion; BOK Financial: $3.69 billion; Dollar Thrifty Group: $1.38 billion; BancFirst: $645 million; Sonic: $630 million; Pre-Paid Legal: $587 million.
