elop new medicines. How do we achieve the right policies in the U.S. and Russia to make this kind of partnership possible? This question will be explored at the Russian-American Life Science Conference in Philadelphia on June 23-24, 2011.
On behalf of the Mid-Atlantic - Russia Business Council (MARBC) and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), it is our great pleasure to invite you to the 2011 Russian-American Life Sciences Conference. This conference will kick off the 14th Semi-Annual Russian-American Innovation Technology week, which will highlight the biotechnology, nanotechnology, and the pharmaceutical industries, and will conclude with participation in the world’s largest biotechnology event: the 2011 BIO International Convention in Washington, DC. The Russian delegation will consist of representatives from the foremost Russian companies in biotechnology and related industries, as well as senior representatives from the Russian federal and local governments.

 

Starting in Philadelphia, events will include a Welcoming Ceremony and Opening Sessions at Philadelphia City Hall on June 23 and the Russian-American Life Sciences Conference at KPMG’s 36th Floor Convention Center on June 24. The opening sessions will include discussions of such topics as Russian-American innovation cooperation and innovation development in Russian regions.
With the adoption of the Pharma 2020 strategy, Russia has indicated its desire to be a world-class innovative bio-pharmaceutical producer and exporter. U.S. industry welcomes that goal and looks forward to a robust discussion about the policies that will achieve that goal. To that end, panels at this conference will acquaint participants with the Russian market overall and introduce key senior government officials responsible for policy. The Russian-American Life Sciences Conference  will continue with in-depth discussion of the investment climate and key policy issues for Russia and the U.S. The conference will also provide an update on the status of ongoing activities in the Health and the Business Development Working-Groups of the US-Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission, including plans for enhancing collaboration between the United States and Russia in the areas of public health and biomedical research, and a discussion of policy priorities in these areas. Conference speakers will include several practitioners of innovation to find best practices in Russian-US partnership and cooperation. Particular attention will be devoted to development of bio and pharmaceutical clusters in Russian Regions.
The path forward for Russia and the U.S. is to exchange information and build long-term relationships in innovative sectors. We hope that this conference will further innovation in the life sciences and help find policy solutions that enable even stronger partnerships in the future.
