The New Jersey city has repeatedly ranked as one of the most dangerous U.S. metropolitan areas in recent years. One publication declared it the worst city to start a business. "Newark is best known for being the site of an airport near New York, and for many of our readers, that’s the only reason to stop there," Conde Nast Traveler wrote in a 2013 article ranking it among the most unfriendly cities.
