Hoverboards keep threatening to be a real possibility, with prototypes such as Lexus' 2015 offering causing excitement, but hopes of getting our hands (or feet) on one are still tarnished by major stumbling blocks. With Lexus it was the fact it could only work on conductive surfaces; with a new attempt called ArcaBoard, it's the cost.
